Worldview International Foundation requires dynamic
leadership for “Mandate the Future.org” a unique internet experiment
in global youth participation. You are required to have experience
of development and delivery of advocacy campaigns, the ability to
manage staff, knowledge of the role of NGOs in humanitarian and advocacy
work. Desirable skills include knowledge of young people’s contribution
to development and the use of the Internet as a participatory communication
tool. Summary Job Description and Key responsibilities: The successful
candidate will be placed at either the Co-ordinator or Director level,
pending the length of experience they have and the number of desirable
skills they have. The Mandate the Future Project Director/Co-ordinator
will manage an existing website project and move it into a new phase,
that of utilising the information gathered, increasing youth participation
and materials for advocacy purposes whilst also maintaining the existing
project implementation. Another major responsibility will be building
the credibility of the project and website with agenda setters. Currently
there are three teams at MTF, the technology team responsible for
the technical monitoring and development of the websites (there will
be four linked websites), the content team responsible for the research
and writing of the rapidly changing content and the promotional team
responsible for highlighting the website to potential users and building
the community size. The Director/Co-ordinator manages these teams
whilst overseeing and planning for the overall aim of MTF, increasing
youth participation across north and south and utilising the information
generated to advocate for issues that this global youth community
see as important. In this role you will oversee budgets, staffing,
strategic development, initiate and collaborate on fundraising plans
in the public and private sectors, development partnerships with relevant
multi-lateral agencies and NGOs. You will oversee the project and
collaborate within WIF and with relevant outside agencies, whilst
also increasing partnerships with appropriate outside agencies. Essential
competencies and experience: Experience of advocacy for development
issues – either topic specific or more broadly based. Knowledge
of (multi/bi laterals and other ) international development organisations
and how best to present campaigns for policy change. Knowledge
of youth participation in development, a positive view of that participation
and its value, and facilitating that participation. Experience
of content development for advocacy or development campaigns; either
as a journalist or working for development campaigns. Experience
of project, budget and people management. Fluent written
and spoken English. Ability to present the project to a wide
variety of audiences in either written or spoken form. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in
a multi-cultural environment and to develop good working relationships
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence others.
Ability to organise, plan and prioritise work. Desirable:
A Degree in either development studies or communication.
Experience of the use of the web for advocacy and participation
purposes. Website management skills Fundraising
experience either with development donors either/or from the corporate
world for development projects.
